When you’re pregnant and awaiting the birth of your child, whether your first baby or third, there’s an inescapable sense of excitement and anticipation.
And for many expecting moms, one of the most meaningful ways to connect with their baby during this time is through a 3D/4D ultrasound.
If you’re looking for a 3D/4D ultrasound near Raleigh or Wake Forest, Blooming Baby offers an experience that goes far beyond a typical appointment.
Located in Wake Forest, North Carolina, Blooming Baby 4D Ultrasound Studio serves families throughout the Raleigh-Durham area with a range of ultrasound services, including:
Their studio is designed to feel welcoming and comfortable—more like a place to slow down and take in the moment than a clinical setting.

What makes Blooming Baby stand out is the experience itself.
Their sessions are designed to be personal and memorable, with certified technologists who focus not just on capturing images, but on creating a meaningful moment for you and your family.
Parents often describe the space as warm and inviting, with large viewing screens that allow you (and your loved ones) to clearly see your baby’s features and movements.
It becomes more than just “seeing the baby” – it becomes a moment you remember.

There’s something powerful about seeing your baby’s face for the first time.
The curve of their cheeks.
The way they stretch or move.
The small details that suddenly make everything feel more real.
For many moms, a 3D/4D ultrasound helps deepen that connection, turning the idea of “baby” into your baby.
It’s often one of the first moments where the emotional side of pregnancy really settles in.

As a Raleigh maternity and newborn photographer, I spend a lot of time helping families preserve the most important milestones throughout their baby’s first year.
But there’s something equally meaningful about honoring the before. That’s what I love about Blooming Baby.
They offer an experience that aligns so naturally with what I do – thoughtful, personal, and centered around connection.

If you’re currently expecting and considering a 3D/4D ultrasound, timing can make a difference in what you’re able to see.
Many moms choose to visit Blooming Baby more than once during their pregnancy – early on for reassurance or gender confirmation, and later to get those detailed 3D/4D images.

There are so many things to do when you’re preparing to welcome your new baby. But the moments that tend to stay with you are the ones where you slow down and really take it all in.
A beautiful maternity session is one way to pause to remember this special season, of course. And seeing your baby for the first time is another.

If you’re pregnant and considering maternity photos, you might be surprised by the question quietly sitting in the back of your mind:
Are maternity photos worth it?
Not because you don’t value this season, but because you’re already juggling so many decisions. Doctor’s appointments. Nursery plans. Baby gear. Names!!
You may also be wondering if maternity photos feel “like you,” or if they’ll matter once your baby arrives.
These are good questions. Thoughtful questions.
As a photographer who has spent nearly two decades walking alongside families through pregnancy, newborn days, and that very first year of life, I want to help you answer this question for yourself honestly.

Most parents aren’t questioning whether pregnancy is meaningful.
They’re questioning:
At its core, this isn’t really a photography question.
It’s a question about how you want to remember the beginning of your child’s story.

Pregnancy is a season that feels long while you’re in it – and impossibly short once it’s over.
I’ve had mothers tell me:
“I didn’t really feel like myself at the time… but now I wish I had taken photos.”
Maternity portraits aren’t about perfection or performance. They’re about:
And later – when your child is older – they become something else entirely.
They become proof.
Proof of how deeply wanted your baby was.
Proof of the beginning of your family story.

Maternity photography tends to resonate most with parents who:
If that sounds like you, maternity photos are often not just “worth it” – they become cherished family history.

Here’s something I’ve noticed after photographing hundreds of families:
The images parents treasure most aren’t always from a single session.
They’re the ones that show continuity.
Pregnancy → newborn → sitting → first steps.
That’s why, for many of my clients, the most meaningful option isn’t a one-time maternity session, it’s documenting the entire first year intentionally.

For families who already know they want to remember this season deeply, I offer the First Year Anthology.
This is a curated experience that includes your choice of two, three, or four sessions – maternity, newborn, sitting up, and first birthday.
Rather than treating each session as a separate decision, the Anthology allows you to relax, knowing:
It’s designed for parents who value legacy, storytelling, and simplicity.
That being said, you don’t have to commit to everything at once.

Some parents prefer to begin with maternity photos and see how things unfold. Totally valid.
Many families who start with maternity portraits do later choose to continue documenting their baby’s first year, because once you see how quickly things change, the value becomes clear.
There’s no wrong place to begin.

I believe in the importance of digital images for family archives and sharing, but I also care deeply about what your child will see growing up.
Studies have shown that children who see photographs of themselves displayed in their home develop a stronger sense of belonging and identity.
That’s why my approach is intentionally full-service, with the aim of providing you not just with photos you can feel, but tangible frames and albums that you can experience with your child through the years.
So your photos don’t live quietly on a phone, but become part of your family’s daily life.

Maternity photos aren’t for everyone.
But for parents who:
They are often one of the most meaningful decisions they make.
Not because of how they look, but because of how they feel years later.

If you’re currently pregnant and feeling drawn to maternity photos – but unsure how they fit into the bigger picture – I’d love to help you explore the options.
You can:
Either way, my role is to guide you thoughtfully, so this season is remembered with care.

If you’re expecting a baby, chances are you’re already making a lot of decisions.
When should you schedule newborn photos? What should everyone wear? Will your baby cooperate? And how do you find a photographer whose style feels like you?
As a newborn photographer with nearly two decades of experience working with growing families, my goal is simple: to make this part easy.
The newborn days pass in a blur of feedings, snuggles, and very little sleep. My job is to create beautiful, meaningful photographs while helping you feel relaxed, comfortable, and cared for throughout the process.
If you’re wondering what it’s like to work together, here’s exactly what you can expect.

Because newborn sessions are best photographed within the first few weeks after birth, most families reserve their session during pregnancy. (If you’re wondering about timing, I’ve written a helpful guide on when to schedule newborn photos.)
Once your session is reserved, we’ll spend a little time planning.
We’ll discuss:
This doesn’t need to be complicated. My goal is simply to help you feel prepared so that once your baby arrives, you can focus on soaking up those first precious days.

One of the things parents tell me they appreciate most is not having to prepare their home for photos.
My natural light studio in Wake Forest is stocked with everything we need for a successful newborn session, including wraps, blankets, newborn accessories, and a carefully curated wardrobe for moms and babies.
When you arrive, there is no rush.
We’ll follow your baby’s lead, allowing plenty of time for feeding, soothing, cuddling, and breaks as needed. Newborn sessions are intentionally slow and relaxed because babies don’t work on a schedule – and that’s perfectly okay.

Many parents worry they’ll feel awkward in front of the camera.
The good news? You don’t need to know what to do.
I’ll gently guide you throughout the session, helping you settle into natural interactions that feel genuine rather than overly posed.
My style is soft, timeless, and connection-focused. Rather than elaborate props or complicated setups, I focus on the relationships that matter most: the way your baby curls into your chest, the tiny fingers wrapped around yours, and the quiet moments you’ll want to remember years from now.
Your only job is to love on your baby.

Let’s be honest—shopping for photos while pregnant or caring for a newborn is not most people’s idea of fun.
To make things easier, I offer wardrobe guidance before your session and access to my studio wardrobe for moms and babies.
Together, we’ll choose clothing that photographs beautifully and allows the focus to remain where it belongs: on your family and your connection with one another.

After your session, I’ll carefully hand-edit your gallery and prepare it for viewing.
Instead of scheduling a separate ordering appointment, you’ll receive an online gallery where you can view your images, choose your favorites, and select the collection that best fits your family.
My image collections include digital images along with a print credit because I believe both matter.
Digital images are wonderful for sharing with friends and family, preserving your memories, and building your family’s archive.
But I also believe photographs deserve to be enjoyed beyond a phone screen.
Research has shown that children who see photographs of themselves displayed in their home develop a stronger sense of belonging and connection. That’s one reason every collection includes a print credit, giving you the flexibility to enjoy your images digitally while also creating something tangible for your home.
And if you need help deciding what to print, I’m always happy to offer guidance.

Some photographers offer a completely DIY experience. Others provide extensive design appointments and product consultations.
My approach lives somewhere in the middle.
You’ll receive expert guidance, thoughtful planning, wardrobe support, and a relaxed experience from beginning to end – but without a complicated process or multiple appointments.
It’s simple, intentional, and designed for busy parents who want beautiful photographs without adding one more thing to their already-full plate.

The newborn season is fleeting.
One day you’re counting kicks and wondering when labor will begin. The next, you’re watching your baby stretch, yawn, and slowly grow out of those tiny newborn features.
My goal is to help you preserve this chapter in a way that feels easy, meaningful, and true to your family.
Many families choose to begin with a newborn session, while others choose the First Year Anthology to document pregnancy, newborn days, and baby’s first year as a cohesive story.

If you’re expecting and would like to learn more about newborn photography, I’d love to hear from you.

Picture this: it’s your first time leaving the house as a brand-new family. You’ve managed to get the diaper bag packed, the baby dressed (twice), and everyone buckled in. As you pull into my studio parking lot, your mind is spinning with questions. Will the baby cry the whole time? What are we even supposed […]
