Becoming a mother changed me. I didn’t understand the concept of unconditional love before my children were born, but my heart could just burst with the overwhelming love for them now.
For me, photography is about sharing that unconditional love with other mothers and their children. I want our children to see just how fiercely they are loved, from birth onward, forever and always, no matter what. I’m devoted to photographing the connection between mother and child that exists from the very beginning.
It’s why I do what I do.
As an artist, I’m inspired by beautiful light, tiny details, and honest emotion. My signature organic style is born from a love of baby-led posing and an eye for detail. I infuse every session with authentic connection and a personal touch, and I create tangible, meaningful artwork that is treasured for generations.
WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
My cozy boutique studio is located at 1756 Heritage Center Drive, Suite 101 in Wake Forest, NC. The studio is open by appointment only.
WHEN DO NEWBORN SESSIONS TAKE PLACE?
I usually photograph newborn sessions within the first 7-10 days of life when baby is still sleepy and curly for that quintessential newborn look that passes so quickly. When you reserve your newborn session, I'll pencil your due date on my calendar. Then, because babies come on their own time, we'll schedule the actual date and time of your session once baby arrives.
HOW LONG DO NEWBORN SESSIONS LAST?
Depending on baby’s mood and hunger levels, sessions may take anywhere from 1-2 hours, with most wrapping up around the 2-hour mark. I'll always follow baby's lead and take breaks when needed.
DO YOU HAVE PROPS?
I provide everything we need for your session, including blankets, wraps, tiny outfits, headbands. I don't offer themes or elaborate props. If you have something special you'd like to bring from home, such as an heirloom outfit or blanket, feel free to bring it along. I will not place your baby in or on a prop that I deem unsafe. Your baby's safety is of the utmost importance during your session.
ARE PARENTS & SIBLINGS INCLUDED IN MATERNITY, NEWBORN, AND BABY SESSIONS?
Absolutely! I love to showcase your love, joy, and connection to each other throughout your session. Family photos are relaxed and easy-going, and I'll never force an unwilling child to be photographed. But don't worry, as a former preschool teacher, a mom, and with more than 15 years of child photography experience, I have a deep bag of tricks to help get your child in front of the camera!
HOW EARLY SHOULD WE BOOK OUR SESSIONS?
As soon as you know I'm the right photographer for you! I am only able to take on a limited number of sessions per month in order to serve my clients with the best creativity and experience I can provide. Booking early ensures you get a spot on the calendar. I will always try to accomodate last minute requests, but I cannot guarantee late availability.
WHAT TIMEFRAMES ARE RECOMMENDED FOR BABY'S FIRST YEAR PORTRAITS?
Your baby will change and grow so much during their first year of life, and you don't want to miss a moment! I recommend scheduling maternity (28-34 weeks), newborn (7-10 days old), sitting up (6-7 months old) and one year sessions. Inquire about my Baby's First Year plan to save on your session fee when you book multiple sessions at one time!
WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR FOR OUR PORTRAITS?
In my complimentary studio wardrobe, I offer an ever-growing collection of dresses that fit and flatter pregnant and postpartum moms. I also have a bit of an addiction to buying adorable baby outfits, so you'll also find lots of fun things for babies 0-12 months old. I've also added on a few shirts for dads. In any case, I provide detailed styling guidance for the everyone. I can also recommend the best of the best hair & makeup artists in the area to come to your home before your session, if you like!
DO YOU OFFER IN-HOME NEWBORN SESSIONS?
No. All newborn sessions take place at my studio in Wake Forest where I provide the perfect environment for beautiful portraits and an elevated experience that all of my clients deserve and appreciate.
Some new parents worry about taking their brand new baby out and about when they're still so little, but you'll find that the studio is the perfect safe space for you. I have plenty of baby supplies on hand in case you forget anything at home, as well as drinks and snacks to keep you going when you run out of time to eat. Consider coming to the studio as a practice run for taking your baby out in public, and know that it's just you and me in a safe, non-judgemental home away from home.
ARE YOU AN INCLUSIVE ALLY?
I am a proud and fierce ally to the LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities. All are welcome and celebrated here!
