FAQs

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
My cozy boutique studio is located at 1756 Heritage Center Drive, Suite 101 in Wake Forest, NC. The studio is open by appointment only. I also photograph sessions outdoors at several preferred locations around the Triangle.

WHEN DO NEWBORN SESSIONS TAKE PLACE?
I photograph newborn sessions within the first two weeks when baby is still sleepy and curly for that quintessential newborn look that passes so quickly. When you reserve your newborn session, I'll pencil your due date on my calendar. Then, because babies come on their own time, we'll schedule the actual date and time of your session once baby arrives.

HOW LONG DO NEWBORN SESSIONS LAST?
Depending on baby’s mood and hunger levels, sessions may take anywhere from 1-3 hours, with most wrapping up around the 2-hour mark.

DO YOU HAVE PROPS?
I provide everything we need for your session, including blankets, wraps, tiny outfits, headbands. If you have something special you'd like to bring from home, such as an heirloom outfit or blanket, feel free to bring it along. I do not and will not place your baby in or on a prop that I deem unsafe. Your baby's safety is of the utmost importance during your session.

ARE PARENTS & SIBLINGS INCLUDED IN MATERNITY AND NEWBORN SESSIONS?
Absolutely! I love to showcase your love, joy, and connection to each other throughout your session. Family portraits are relaxed and easy-going, and I will never force an unwilling child to be photographed. But don't worry, as a former preschool teacher, a mom, and with 14 years of child photography experience, I have a deep bag of tricks to help get your child in front of the camera!

HOW EARLY SHOULD WE BOOK OUR SESSIONS?
As soon as you know I'm the right photographer for you! I am only able to take on a limited number of sessions per month in order to serve my clients with the best creativity and experience I can provide. Booking early ensures you get a spot on the calendar. I will always try to accomodate last minute requests, but I cannot guarantee late availability.

WHAT TIMEFRAMES ARE RECOMMENDED FOR BABY'S FIRST YEAR PORTRAITS?
Your baby will change and grow so much during their first year of life, and you don't want to miss a moment! I recommend scheduling maternity (28-34 weeks), newborn (1-2 weeks), sitting up (6-7 months) and one year sessions. Inquire about my Collective Membership for perks such as VIP scheduling, invitations to exclusive events, free birth announcements, and more! (Collective Memberships are limited to 24 members per year.)

WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR FOR OUR PORTRAITS?
In my complimentary studio wardrobe, I offer an ever-growing collection of dresses that fit and flatter pregnant and postpartum moms. I also have a bit of an addiction to buying adorable baby outfits, so you'll also find wardrobe for babies 0-12 months old. In addition, I provide styling guidance for the rest of the family. I can also recommend the best of the best hair & makeup artists in the area to come to your home before your session, if you like!

DO YOU OFFER IN-HOME NEWBORN SESSIONS?
At this time, I do not. Some may call me a perfectionist, others may call me a control freak. I prefer to say I have high standards. :) In the studio, I can provide the perfect environment for portraits you will cherish for a lifetime AND an elevated experience that my clients deserve and appreciate.

Some new parents worry about taking their brand new baby out and about when they're still so little, but you'll find that the studio is the perfect safe space for you. I have plenty of baby supplies on hand in case you forget anything at home, as well as drinks and snacks to keep you going when you run out of time to eat. Consider coming to the studio as a practice run for taking your baby out in public, and know that it's just you and me in a safe, non-judgemental home away from home.

ARE YOU AN INCLUSIVE ALLY?
I am a proud and fierce ally to the LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities. All are welcome and celebrated here.
