flashback friday

March 13, 2009

claire is three weeks old today, and she won’t be a newborn for much longer! while that can certainly be a Very Good Thing (hello, sleeping at night again!), it’s also a little sad for me. for one, she is (most likely) our last baby, so i’m trying to treasure these fleeting moments that we’ll never have again. and also, i won’t have a sleepy newborn to photograph at will anymore! yes, i’m incorrigible. :)

i found a couple of pictures of macy when she was a newborn. she was only about a week old in this first picture. see how alert she was, so young?

and look at all this blond hair she was born with! of course, it all fell out and she was bald until about 18 months!

the whole family trekked down to hope mills on sunday to take some newborn photographs of little addie! unfortunately, the day was very rainy and very gray. but i think we got a few good shots!

marnie and brian, enjoy your sneak peek, and i’ll have your gallery ready soon!

1. is it tuesday already?!?!

2. mike had to go back to work today. leaving me here, alone and outnumbered! so far, (as of 3pm, anyway!) it hasn’t been too bad at all. they’ve been taking it pretty easy on me. they are both napping right now, so we’ll see what they may have in store for me this afternoon. i have a feeling they are already conspiring against me…oh, sisters!
3. macy decided this morning that she just had to wear her big girl underwear, and i was so sleepy i didn’t want to argue. well, those big girl panties lasted about two hours before macy had a little accident…but that’s the only accident we’ve had all day! she has gone in the potty three times today! YAY MACY!!
4. i wasn’t planning to pick up with the potty training on my first day alone with the girls, but when a two-year old is cooperating, you don’t argue!
5. check out these lips. she makes the sweetest, funniest faces!
6. macy has always had a ton of different nicknames, like pumpkin, goof, honeypot, honeybunch. the list goes on and on…it’s a wonder the girl knows her real name! claire is already picking up some nicknames too…we’ve been calling her peanut, little bit and pipsqueak (because of all the squeaky noises she’s always making!)
7. mike has been amazing since claire was born. (did i mention that in a previous post? i just had to say it again!) his help with the physical tasks, like lifting macy into and out of various places, has been especially helpful, as i continue to heal from my c-section. but today i am just missing his presence…we spent 11 total days together, almost always at each other’s side. due to the nature of our jobs, i can’t remember spending even more than a weekend together in such a long time. it was nice. so nice. i miss him.
8. aside from her dark hair, claire looks so much like macy when she was a newborn. look at these two pictures…the first is claire at 10 days old, and the second is macy at 8 days old.
9. how to tell someone is a photographer: she has zero interest in the snow except for the amazing reflection of beautiful light it gives her!
10. i will be posting a sneak peek in a moment of another beautiful newborn! stay tuned!
