macy has taken her first steps!

pray for us.

macy is making leaps and bounds in the language department. she now has three words: uh-oh, dada and cat. well, she says “I CAT, I CAT” when she sees our cat, which means “kitty-cat”. Every now and then she says “dod”, referring to the dogs. but mama? no. no mama yet. never mind that i’m the one who carried her for 42 weeks. spent 27 hours sitting in a hospital bed waiting for labor to progress. then got sliced open, my lungs shoved up into my nasal canal, to give life to this child! been peed on, pooped on, spit up on. sat up many nights while she was sick or teething. glad to know i rate below the I CAT!

i kid. motherhood has had many, many rewards for me, and i know that “mama” is just around the corner!

it is darling to hear her say dada when mike enters the room. she has said for awhile, but now there’s meaning associated with it.

be thankful you didn’t have to actually listen to that. i think i might be almost as tone deaf as my dear mother. she, however, does insist i always listen to her sing happy birthday to me. as bad as it is, it’s a fun tradition and one that i actually look forward to every year.

speaking of birthdays…macy will be a year old in a little over a month. wow, i just cannot believe it! i have to say, this has been the busiest, most chaotic, most enjoyable, and most rewarding year i have ever had.

i started a photography class wednesday night. i’m really excited about it! mike generously gave me the canon digital rebel xt for christmas last year, and i just haven’t had the time to learn to use it properly. the class is through wake tech community college, and focuses (no pun intended) on the technical side of photography. there’s another that focuses more on the creative, and i may take that in the spring. i’ll probably use this blog to showcase my developing (ha ha) skills!

i’ll use this photo as a starting point for where i am now, and i’ll do a similar shot when i’m done with the class. hopefully there will be a big difference!

macy’s nine-month pictures are finally in, and i cried when i saw them. we had them taken at the park where mike and i were married, and there are several shots of the three of us on that very same front porch…such a full-circle moment!

i love most of the pictures! however, in some of the pictures, you can see parts of mike as he held onto her. =( we did many shots where she was perched on a bench or wall, and the kid has no fear of falling! so mike was assigned the job of baby-catcher. i was supposed to stand behind the photographer and make baby smile. ha ha. around this time, macy had one favorite facial expression. it’s not a smile, but you know what? it was her…it was her, captured perfectly at that time.

hi!

i’ve started this blog as a way to communicate with our friends and family. with all of our busy schedules, it seems there is never enough time to share all the little moments that make life meaningful.

my hope is to update this blog every day…i’m sure i’ll miss a few days here and there, but check in with us often! and if you have a blog, share it with us too!
